Boston Philoptochos to Pay Tribute to Women at Annual Charities Benefit Luncheon

BROOKLINE, MA--The Metropolis of Boston Philoptochos recently announced details of the fall annual charities benefit luncheon, "The Age of Philoptochos--a Tribute to Women." Scheduled for Sunday, November 5, 2006 at the Newton Marriott, a reception will be held at 12:30pm, followed by luncheon and program at 2:00pm.

Among the honorees are The Reverend Dr. Diane Kessler, Director of the Massachusetts Council of Churches, also the keynote speaker; Eleni Gage, journalist and author; Dr. Mary D. Lekas, medical pioneer and philanthropist; Dr. Zorica Pantic, president of Wentworth Institute of Technology; Mary Papoutsy, classicist and lecturer; and Catherine Pappas, philanthropist of the Metropolis of Boston. Evanthea Condakes, past National Philoptochos President (1998-2002) will serve as Honorary Chairperson, leading an event committee comprised of Yiota Simoglou, Janice Panagakos, and Diane Miminos. Karen Swensen, news anchor at NECS Boston, will complement the program as Mistress of Ceremonies.

In addition to paying tribute to outstanding women, the luncheon is also a celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the establishment of the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society as a national organization and the 50th Anniversary of its formation in the Metropolis of Boston.
