Introducing: "Roman Explorations, "A summer workshop about Latin and the ancient Romans for elementary and middle school teachers and homeschool instructors, on-site in Rome, Italy! Workshop fee only $575! Register by December 15!
Daily Schedule: Participants will enjoy learning simple Latin, using a colorful, engaging, kid-friendly text, just as your students would use. In addition, participants will spend the bulk of their time journeying through the city of Rome, witnessing the monumental sites and museums firsthand. Accomplished instructors will provide commentary, lead discussion, and suggest relevant lessons and activities.
Curriculum: Participants will learn about the basics of the Latin language, key Latin word roots, as well as the culture, myth, and history of the ancient Romans. Participants will also learn techniques for incorporating these topics in their classrooms, and receive numerous teaching materials! No previous experience with Latin is necessary!
Itinerary: Each day’s explorations will be based around a theme important to the ancient Romans: Entertainment, City Life, Religion, Mythology, History, and Art. This structure will take us to sites like the Palatine Hill, the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, a variety of museums, and many more! Plus there will be excursions to several classic yet non-ancient highlights of Rome, and of course the opportunity to dine on Italian cuisine and simply experience the vibrancy of Rome!
Professional Development: CEU’s are available; all participants will receive a certificate documenting their 50+ contact hours. Three graduate credits are optional.
